WA Employees: LTC Tax Notice
Notice to all Washington Employees
As you are all aware the WA Long-Term Care tax begins on the 1/22/22 pay day, for pay period 1/1/22-1/15/22. Many of you saw the Governor’s announcement about a hold on collecting the tax. Governor Inslee cannot change the law but can put a hold on collecting from employers. The interpretation of this is that we must still collect the tax, we just don’t send it to the state until they tell us to.
As a company we are required to begin collecting the long-term tax and if we collect too much or too little, an adjustment will be made in a future payroll. As we monitor this, we will be sure to send updates. There is nothing you need to do; this is simply informational.
If you have provided an exemption letter to Payroll, you will be exempt from this tax.
