The Company has been listening to our Employees and one of our greatest areas of improvement is Learning and Development.

Our needs expand from New Hire Orientation to developing our Driver Trainers into effective Instructors to continuing leadership education for our Managers.  We made the investment to launch Oak Harbor University (OHU) two years ago and started the first program, L.E.A.D., last September.

This program has proven so valuable that we recently approved to hire an additional staff member to help build content and to support the Company’s learning objectives.  Sometimes timing falls right into place and we were blessed to have one of our L.E.A.D. students fit the bill with exactly the skillset we need to take Oak Harbor’s Learning & Development team to the next level.

Today we are announcing the addition of a third person to the company’s L&D team.

I am beyond excited to announce Adam White’s very well-earned promotion into the role of Learning & Development Specialist! In his new role, Adam will partner with me to identify, expand upon, and deliver new and/or updated learning initiatives across the entire business, from New Hire Onboarding to Driver development, Safety to Dock Worker development, and refining our leadership courses and introducing new ideas altogether.

Adam just completed 37 weeks in our company’s leader development course (L.E.A.D.) and expertly proved his skill and gift of planning curriculum, teaching, and interpersonal communications. Adam came to us January 22nd of last year from another freight company in Sacramento, spent 8 months in a P&D driving capacity, then worked with me for 9 months as one of our first 5 Leadership Students. Prior to joining us here at Oak Harbor Freight Lines he spent the better part of 6 years teaching high school German and Math. He absolutely has the gift of educating people.

Please assist me in congratulating Adam White in earning this brand-new role. Incredibly well-earned, Adam!
