While heading to Pasco from Hermiston, Clarence came across an ABF line haul truck that rolled its back box and was blocking the entire freeway. Clarence told the driver it needed to be cleared before more traffic came and hit the Semi. He took action and helped disconnect the back box from the front. Clarence could have very well saved lives and at the least opened a closed freeway.

The Vander Pol family awarded Clarence with the Silver Leaf award for his good deed and representation of one of Oak Harbor’s Core Values: “Lead from the front.” Thank you for stepping up, assuming leadership in a crisis, and helping someone in need.

We are proud to have Clarence represent the Oak Harbor name!

On Monday, February 5th, we had previous Recipient, Amber Kiesel, present the Silver Leaf award to Clearance. We as a collective team presented him with a “Bringing Peace of Mind” certificate as well as $100 gift card to Clarence’s favorite BBQ. We made sure to acknowledge Jon Okarski, Line Haul Safety Trainer and Driver Lead, for bringing forward his good deed. We are proud of Clarence for his commitment to safety and beyond!
