“For 10,222 days I’ve been blessed to call
Oak Harbor Freight Lines home.”

Contributed by: Brad Gates, Portland Terminal Sales Support

Thursday the 12th of September was my last day at Oak Harbor.

On September 16th, 1996, I walked into Oak Harbor Freight Lines as a newly hired outbound dock worker. After a year and a half, I moved into the office to learn about billing. In total, I’ve spent the last 28 years as a customer service rep, receptionist, dispatcher, OS&D clerk, operations manager, and sales support.

I decided to come to work for Oak Harbor while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life, and in the process, Oak Harbor became part of my life. Through it all, I’ve met and worked with some amazing people.

Through all the ups and downs of the last 28 years, Oak Harbor became part of my life. The people I worked with became family. We have celebrated marriages and births, and we also grieved losses. For 10,222 days I’ve been blessed to call Oak Harbor Freight Lines home.

The good news is I finally figured out what I want to do with my life. The better news is I am better equipped to move into this next adventure because of the time I have spent with some amazing people that make up Oak Harbor Freight Lines. If you find yourself near East Vancouver Community Church come by and visit!

To the people I have called family for the last 28 years, I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done, and the support you have given me.
