Concerned mother, Lezlie Bigham, called Oak Harbor Freight Lines to say thank you to Elijah Myers, Eugene Line Driver. Mrs. Bigham’s daughter was traveling in the middle of a heavy downpour when her car hydroplaned and crashed into the center guard rail twice. It then flew across the road into the ditch. With all of the momentum that she had, she continued thru the ditch and up toward the off ramp. Her car jumped the road and finally rested on the other side of the off ramp. Elijah saw the whole thing happen and stopped to help her. Elijah called 911, also called the mother to inform her what happened and that her daughter was involved in an accident. Elijah stayed with the young lady until the fire department and ambulance showed up on the scene.
Mrs. Bigham want to call and thank Elijah for all the help that he gave and for sitting there with her daughter, providing both her daughter and herself with Peace of Mind until helped arrived.
In December Co-President, Eric VanderPol, came to Eugene and awarded Elijah the Silver Leaf Award for going above and beyond the call of duty. The Silver Leaf Award is given to individuals at Oak Harbor Freight Lines that display our Company’s values and provide Peace of Mind.
It doesn’t happen often that we get calls saying how wonderful our drivers are so it is awesome when these calls come in. The best thing is that Elijah was doing “the right thing” and that again is great to see one of our drivers getting recognized for just being a good person.
