Healthcare costs continue to rise, so we look for areas where our everyday choices can make a difference. Preventive care is one of those opportunities. Annual physicals, bloodwork, and age-appropriate screenings can help identify health concerns early, when they may be easier to address.
During our 2025 insurance renewal, we saw that many Employees were not using the preventive care available through our medical plan. We partnered with Wellworks to encourage Employees and Spouses to complete an annual checkup. The original program would have affected 2027 medical premiums for those who did not complete the required steps.
As the 2026 deadline approached, we learned that some Employees were not aware of the program, while others could not get a doctor’s appointment before the August 31st deadline. Even with additional communication, participation remained lower than expected.
Because we want a wellness program to be clear, accessible, and supportive, we decided to discontinue the premium requirement and take a different approach to wellness in 2027. There will be no 2027 medical premium incentive tied to completion of the 2026 Wellworks steps.
The good news is that significantly more Employees and Spouses completed physicals in 2026. We hope these visits provided peace of mind, helped identify potential health concerns early, or inspired positive lifestyle changes.
We also want to recognize everyone who completed the required steps by the August deadline. The HR team is finalizing the participant list, and eligible Employees will be entered into a prize drawing. If an Employee and Spouse both participated, the Employee will receive 2 entries.
The drawing will be held in mid-November, and winners will be notified directly.
Thank you to everyone who participated and took an important step toward protecting their health. We look forward to sharing more about our 2027 wellness approach soon.
