Oak Harbor Freight Lines – Newsletter
The following words are from a email sent to our team from Michelle Franks of Southeastern Freight Lines. It highlights a particular story of how our Stockton terminal came through to help a shipment that had been misplaced by the SEFL crew. This is an excellent example of how our team Brings Peace of Mind.
Sherry and her husband, Manny, have grown their business, Mad Dash Mixes, over the last 4 to 5 years from the ground up. Much of their work is done through festivals in Spring and early Summer and Fall. Nothing happens during winter so the festival season is extremely important to their business.
They attend shows all over the U.S. The shows are usually Fridays, Saturday and Sundays. A particular shipment was supposed go to Alabama but it ended up VERY far away in Stockton, California. SEFL misloaded this pallet unmanifested, so they had no idea where it was. The only way they knew, was the shipper put a tracker/air tag on her pallet. Otherwise, it would have never been found in time.
A few weeks ago, her husband was diagnosed with throat cancer. These 5 shows were especially important to them knowing what they would be facing financially, emotionally and physically in the coming weeks and months. She was crying on the phone yesterday because it appeared that she might have to cancel the Alabama show but still would have to pay her employees for working the show even though they couldn’t sell anything and would have made zero dollars. She wasn’t angry at all she was just emotionally upset knowing the loss she would take. When I called her last night to let her know that the Oak Harbor Freight Lines team had retrieved the pallet and that arrangements were being made to get it picked up soon, there was silence and a lot of tears… extremely grateful…
With all of that said, she will be sending Stockton a care package just to say THANK YOU for all the hard work and effort. She is sending samples of her mixes for all of you to try and enjoy. They are very good and I have even tried some of them.
Thank you again for a job well done!
Have a blessed week!
