Oak Harbor Freight Lines – Newsletter

L.E.A.D.’s
Vision & Future

Contributed by: Kerry Millikin, Learning & Development Manager
“Oak Harbor’s vision is to be the premier carrier and employer in the West. To accomplish this, we will need leaders who inspire exceptional results and deliver superior service to our customers. LEAD will cultivate those leaders by instilling communication and people skills, technical and industry knowledge, and an ownership mindset.”

We are hard at work designing the new look to LEAD, our company’s formalized leader development program. Targeting a September launch, LEAD will be specifically built for hourly leads and other high-potential hourly teammates. The immediate goal with this program will be to develop a bench of highly capable, self-motivated, consistently trained, teammates who are ready to promote to either Dock Supervisor or Dispatch Supervisor.

LEAD will be a 9-week program, spread over 9 months (September through May) with 5 weeks of in-person learning and 4 virtually at the learner’s home terminal. For more specifics, please call or e-mail me and I will be more than happy to answer your questions.

I plan to share progress with the company each month through the Dispatcher, Dayforce, Axonify (OHU), ECO-boards, and regional calls.

We do expect to begin advertising and opening the application process to teammates during Quarter Two (either April or May).
